HERO: 2024 in Review, 2025 in Focus
Here Everyone Reaches Optimal Outcomes (HERO) is an ARP ESSER program made possible by funding from the Maryland State Department of Education.
HERO focuses on socio-emotional learning, community-building, and a mix of academic and enrichment activities for multilingual learners and newcomer middle school students in Maryland.
Highlights from 2024
In 2024, HERO made remarkable strides in fostering a welcoming and supportive environment for multilingual learners and newcomers at Buck Lodge Middle School. Within one program year, we grew enrollment by 154%, built a cohesive and committed team, and provided targeted instructional support through a certified Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) instructor. Students loved the program, and families actively engaged in workshops, strengthening the bridge between home and school. HERO’s collaboration with CAFE for Middle School Mastery further enriched our offerings, ensuring students had tools for success.
Inviting you to partner with us in 2025
Looking ahead, we can expand on these successes by supporting after-school programs in growing enrollment, enhancing family engagement resources, and scaling impactful collaborations with schools, families, and communities. Partner with us to strengthen school-based support, invest in professional development for program staff, and co-create innovative approaches to serve more students and families effectively. Together, we can ensure every learner achieves their optimal outcome!
