I’ve been thinking a lot about intersectionality in literature, especially regarding Black women and gender. Two books come to mind for me on these topics. One is Intersectional Identity and Education Leadership of Black Women in the U.S.A. by Sonia Douglass Horsford, a collection of essays and studies on the experiences and barriers of Black women in leadership, as well as their strategies for overcoming such barriers. The second book is Speaking Truth to Power by Anita Hill. It deals with race, gender, and class, and describes a historical experience for Black people and their journey to the present (or 1996, when the book was published).
