The Center for Education Equity (CEE) at MAEC is the Region I equity assistance center as designated by the Department of Education. MAEC works in partnership with WestEd and the American Institutes for Research (AIR) to address problems in public schools caused by segregation and inequities. Our goals are to:

  • Improve and sustain the systemic capacity of public education systems to effectively cope with educational issues caused by desegregation and resegregation, and
  • Increase equitable educational opportunities for all students regardless of race, gender, religion, and national origin (English Learners).
