Building the Conditions for K–12 Transformation
At MAEC, our mission is to create school systems where every student can succeed, no matter their background or zip code. With over 30 years of experience in the field, we have learned that lasting change happens when key conditions are in place:
- Strong leadership support and buy-in from the whole school community
- Confidence and skills among educators to support sustainable change
- Clear systems and structures that keep the work going even when leaders leave the school or district
- Realistic expectations (systemic change takes time!)
- Collaboration between districts, schools, and community members
- Commitment to data for making informed decisions
- Intentional engagement of diverse voices and perspectives
