Building Great Leaders – a Community of Practice
Begins on Monday, May 15, 2017 from 2-4pm
Following up on our February 2017 Moving Toward Equity webinar, the Center for Education Equity (CEE) at MAEC, along with our partners from the American Institutes of Research (AIR) Center on Great Teachers and Leaders (GTL), invites your participation in a virtual Community of Practice. Learn about bold and innovative strategies for attracting, preparing, developing, supporting, retaining, and extending great teachers.
ABOUT THE CoP
Effective teachers are the most important in-school factor affecting student achievement. Unfortunately, evidence suggests that students from low-income families and students of color do not have the same level of access to effective teachers as their peers. To address this gap, leaders at all levels must identify and implement strategies that will work in their unique context to ensure all students have the teachers they need to achieve their highest potential.
During the Community of Practice sessions, participants will hear from GTL experts on topics such as equitable access and teacher effectiveness in the Every Student Succeeds Act and developing teachers. Participants will also have access to the online community as well as resources and tools to inform their work and share effective strategies and challenges with colleagues.
If you are interested in participating, please email Karmen@maec.org by Monday, May 8 to sign up!
