Closing the Achievement Gap Using Effective Student Services Resources & Practices
This workshop illustrates effective practices, policies, and programming that allowed the Dorchester County Public School system (DCPS) to close the achievement gap between African American and White students from 16.49% to 2.91%. DCPS gained unwanted notoriety for its educational services, its student expulsion rate; its high dropout rate; and its low graduation rate. Now, DCPS had the second most improved graduation rate in Maryland over the past five years. Participants will receive a step-by-step process that may be used in their own district to do the same.
