Act, Change, & Empower: Using Effective Instruction and Assessment Practices to Support Literacy of English Learners
This panel offers participants: (1) best practice in formative assessment based on the findings of a two-year Formative Assessment program, developed by the Center for Effective School Practices-Rutgers University (CESP-RU) in partnership with Red Bank Borough Public School District; (2) overview of the instructional model: Attaining Core Content for English language learners (ACCELL) with a focus on two of its components – developing language and writing; and (3) instructional strategies, methods, and resources grounded in culturally relevant teaching and multimodal literacy practices.
