Ms. Shaffer has more than 40 years of experience in family engagement, gender equity, and multicultural education. She serves on numerous boards and is the chair of the National Association for Family School and Community Engagement. She served as Executive Director of the Maryland Parental Information and Resource Center. Ms. Shaffer has been widely published and received numerous recognitions and awards.
