Adverse Childhood Experiences of Latino Youth and their Impact on Youth Development Programming
This workshop demonstrates the impact of adverse childhood experiences on the social and emotional development of young people. It incorporates comprehensive assessments of risk and protective factors and adverse childhood experiences into its programming for Latino youth. Presenters will share how Latino youth are disproportionately impacted by adverse experiences such as trauma, poverty, violence, or loss and demonstrate how Identity’s Latino Youth Wellness Program assesses and responds to such factors. They will provide examples of program components including case management, family assessments and evaluation. This holistic approach to youth development can lead to improved well-being and increased academic achievement for Latino youth.
