What Math Should Children Know?

These guides for parents of children grades K-8th by Seek Common Ground, are available in English and Spanish, include explanations of what your child should be able to know and do at each grade level in math and literacy, offer tips for talking with your child’s teacher, and provide links to other resources.

These Spanish Parent Roadmaps for Math Common Core Standards, created by the Council of Great City Schools, provide guidance to parents about what their children will be learning and how they can support that learning in grades K-12.

This readiness check from Learning Heroes for children grades k-8 offers five questions that children answer to help parents know if their child is on track with math (and reading). At the end, parents can get videos and activities to support learning at home.

Los Angeles Unified School District details 8 Habits for developing critical math thinking and problem solving for k-12th graders, aligned with the Common Core Standards. It includes things families can say and do to promote a positive math attitude, problem-solving perseverance, and much more.
