We work directly with communities at the ground-level and with the Maine Department of Education and key partner organizations to implement educational excellence, culturally responsive family engagement, and equity. Together with the Maine Department of Education and partner organizations, we develop statewide, equity-driven, family engagement policies and frameworks.
We promote statewide family engagement by increasing staff knowledge of best practices, providing training and workshops, and building networks with state agencies.

Families are invited to apply to the CEFAM Advisory Committee and help lead family engagement in Maine by sharing your knowledge and shape programming for 2023.

Parent Powered offers a unique family-engagement curriculum, Ready4K Trauma Informed, that uses text messaging to promote child development and meet families where they are. Parents receive weekly messages with local resources, tools, and critical data supporting families in need. There are currently 2,000+ families in Maine with access to Ready4K. The curriculum is for birth to 8th grade and is available in over ten languages.
Maine parents can build leadership and advocacy skills and participate in state policy decision-making for their children through the Maine Parent Ambassador program, coordinated by partner organization Maine Community Action Partnership. This year, Parent Ambassadors made successful program application submissions and will present at this year’s National Head Start conference in Washington, D.C., and the Parent and Family Engagement Conference Leadership Conference in New Orleans.
