Join us for the first in a series of Equity Breakfast Institutes.

As evidenced by a recent increase in the number of school racial harassment complaints filed with U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights, racial harassment and bullying is on the rise. To assist schools in their efforts to prevent and respond to this growing problem, the US Department of Education’s Office for Civil RIghts and the Mid-Atlantic Equity Consortium’s Center for Education Equity has partnered together to host an Equity Breakfast Institute on July 18, 2018, from 8:30AM – 1:00PM.

This institute will include a breakfast buffet; an opening keynote; and two sets of workshops where participants will:

  • hear superintendents discuss the challenges related to racial harassment that their districts have faced and how they have prevented or responded to them;
  • have the opportunity to engage in dialogue about their experiences with racial harassment and bullying with colleagues from other school districts;
  • gain a deeper understanding of the racial harassment and bullying; and
  • learn of school programs, policies, practices and/or procedures designed to help create a safe and supportive school environment for all students.
