Program and Administrative Assistant

The Mid-Atlantic Equity Consortium, Inc. (MAEC) is a private, non-profit with over 20 years of success linking educators, families, communities, and students to increase cross-cultural understanding, engagement and social capital to improve student achievement and further school reform. MAEC seeks to promote excellence and equity in education to achieve social justice. Recognizing that educational opportunities are not equal for all, we focus especially on culturally, ethnically and linguistically diverse students, and low-income school communities to ensure equity in education.


MAEC is looking for a college-level student or recent graduate that is detail-oriented and is comfortable prioritizing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. The intern will work with the Associate Director of Technical Assistance and Training and Associate Director of Research and report to the Vice President.


  • Conducts searches for relevant research, current trends, and school-related data
  • Checks accuracy and updates information in publications and data records
  • Assists with data entry and reporting
  • Supports program and research staff in gathering information and brainstorming ideas to develop podcasts, virtual training courses, and other projects
  • Provides administrative support as needed (e.g., creating PowerPoint slides, planning events, supporting equity specialists, etc.)


  • High level of professionalism, flexibility, diplomacy, and strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience with using editing software
  • Strong computer and technology skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office (Examples: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher), Google docs, and interest in and ability to learn new platforms
  • Outstanding organizational abilities, good judgment, and strong attention to detail


  • Research-related data analysis and writing experience
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in education or social sciences
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office especially Excel, editing software, Photoshop, Word, and PowerPoint
