Data & Evaluation Intern

INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION:

 

MAEC is looking for a graduate student or recent graduate that is detail-oriented and comfortable prioritizing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. The intern will work with MAEC’s Evaluation Team and report to the Data & Evaluation Specialist. Due to COVID-19, the summer 2021 internship will be conducted remotely. The intern will be working with the MAEC Evaluation Team to develop and implement a project that MAEC has recently acquired. The ideal candidate will fill this position from July through September 2021, with the possibility of continuing until December 2021.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Coordinate data collection, including leading focus groups and interviews, conducting literature/document reviews, and developing protocols and survey items
  • Lead data analysis with support from the Evaluation Team
  • Attend project/client-facing meetings and contribute ideas
  • Assist with reporting and data visualizations to make report findings accessible to practitioners in the field of education
  • Report findings to project team, clients, and other stakeholders in written and/or verbal formats
  • Support the evaluation team in other projects and tasks as needed

 

Requirements:

 

  • Some graduate level experience, working toward a degree in education, related field, or equivalent experience
  • Experience in education program evaluation, particularly in conducting and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data collections (e.g., focus groups, interviews, surveys, document reviews)
  • Experience with report writing
  • Preferred experience with data analysis software including MAXQDA, SPSS, and Tableau

  • Passion for education equity and social justice
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in formal (e.g., project/client meetings) and informal (e.g., team meetings) settings
  • Strong computer and technology skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive), Google docs, and interest in and ability to learn new platforms
  • Outstanding organizational abilities, good judgment, and strong attention to detail
