Position Description

Achievement Linking Innovation, Vision, and Engagement (ALIVE) is a 21st Century Community Learning Centers program under MAEC funded through the Maryland State Department of State. MAEC is looking for a dynamic instructor to teach and use art as a tool of creativity and self-expression.  ALIVE – Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) after school program at Col E. Brooke Lee Middle School, Montgomery County, Maryland. This is a temporary position (January – June 2020). The program will provide academic and enrichment activities for 25 students grades 6. The art enrichment activities focus on providing students with creative skills using a, culturally responsive approach that foster self-expression and socio-emotional growth.


Main Responsibilities

  • Conduct art & crafts instruction for students for an hour of instruction 3 times per week (T, W, and Th) from 4:45 PM to 5:45 PM.
  • Engage parents and family to participate to promote art & crafts activities at home to help promote their children self-expression and creative skills.



  • Certified art teacher.
  • At least two years of experience working in art instruction at the elementary or secondary levels.
  • At least two years of experience managing classrooms with students of diverse backgrounds and academic achievement levels.


This is a contract position that pays $40 per hour.
